childrenschore ("we") runs childrenschoreapp.com, a chore and reward app for families. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices. For a short, plain-language version about children, see How we protect kids' data.
What we collect
- Parents: email address, a password (stored hashed), the time and wording of the parental consent you gave, and your family settings (name, timezone, currency).
- Children: display name, age group, PIN (hashed), avatar, and their chores, completions, points and reward requests. Optional chore photos if a parent turns photo proof on.
- Printable chart maker: the chart text you type, saved as a PDF so it can be downloaded. It is not linked to any person.
- Technical: a sign-in cookie to keep you logged in, and standard server logs (kept briefly for security and reliability). We don't use advertising or analytics cookies.
How we use it
- To run the app: show chores, record completions, keep the points ledger and send you verification emails.
- To keep accounts secure (for example, limiting PIN and password attempts).
- We do not sell personal information, show ads, or use children's information for any purpose other than providing the service.
Children's privacy (COPPA)
We obtain verifiable parental consent — a verified email plus an explicit, signed consent screen — before any child profile exists. We collect only what's needed for the app to work. A parent can review, export or delete their child's information at any time from the Family screen, or by emailing us. We do not condition a child's participation on collecting more information than is necessary.
Who we share with
- Cloudflare hosts the app, database and file storage.
- Our email provider delivers verification and password-reset emails to parents.
- Nobody else, unless required by law.
Keeping and deleting data
We keep your data while your account is active. Deleting a child or your family permanently removes their data, including photos, from our live systems right away.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under GDPR or CCPA), you can access, correct, export or delete your data and object to certain processing. Email hello@childrenschoreapp.com and we'll respond within 30 days.
Changes
If we make a material change, we'll tell parents by email and in the app before it takes effect.
